Portrait Session Info

I work with clients to determine the best site, time of day and style for each session. All shoots take place on location: in a client%u2019s home, at a nearby park, or in another chosen spot. I rely primarily on natural light, and only use flash photography when absolutely necessary or when doing a specific %u201Chigh key%u201D style.

Most importantly, I trust that kids will be kids, which is what makes them such great photographic subjects. When they feel at ease and are allowed to be themselves, their true personalities shine through and we get extraordinary results.

Sessions typically include about an hour of shooting time, though I routinely spend more time with clients when it works for their children. The goal is to have a relaxed session that enables your family to feel at ease and have fun.

You may want to plan your session to capture a special stage... baby is sitting up or taking first steps, a sibling arrives, or a front tooth is missing. If you'd like to discuss my approach or are wondering if your child is at a good age for doing photographs, give me a call.

Within a week or two of your session we can meet to view your proofs. I can also make the session images available for viewing online, which enables friends and family to see them as well.

Some Suggestions

* Think about the kind of photographs you are hoping for and let's talk ahead of time.

* Schedule the session for a time of day that is typically comfortable for your child.

* Make sure your child is rested and fed beforehand.

* Consider locations or toys that will help your child feel relaxed.

* Regarding clothing: Solid colors work best. Large stripes and loud prints can be distracting. It also works great when the parents are in contrasting tones to the kids - parents dark vs. kids in light or vice versa. That said, kids clothes are cute and if you have a favorite outfit, it%u2019s going to work.

* Some of the best images are a result of interactions, so please consider joining in with your child for some of the shots.
